What does this operation involve?

A full arm lift, or brachioplasty, removes and reshapes excess tissue along the length of the upper arm. The scar is usually positioned along the inner or lower aspect of the arm and commonly extends from the armpit towards the elbow. This longer pattern permits a broader correction than limited-scar techniques.

01

When it may be considered

  • Loose skin extending along much of the upper arm
  • Significant laxity following weight loss or ageing
  • Patients who understand the contour benefit and accept a longer permanent scar
02

Your operation

  • A scar planned from the armpit towards the elbow
  • Careful removal and redraping of excess skin and tissue
  • Liposuction may be added selectively to refine transitions
03

Recovery and aftercare

  • Swelling, bruising, tightness and altered sensation are common initially
  • Early mobilisation is encouraged while heavy lifting is avoided
  • Scar care and return to exercise progress over several weeks and months

Planned for your pattern of excess.

Your skin quality, tissue distribution, shoulder and arm contour, previous scars, general health and the result you hope to achieve are assessed together.

You will receive a clear explanation of the proposed scar, whether liposuction may be appropriate, material risks, alternatives and the expected recovery before deciding how to proceed.

Useful information

01Where will the scar sit?+

It is usually planned along the inner or lower upper arm. Its exact position and length are agreed after examination.

02Does the scar reach the elbow?+

It often approaches the elbow when laxity extends that far, but the design is tailored to the tissue requiring treatment.

03Will the scar fade?+

Scars usually soften and fade with time but remain permanent. Scar quality varies between individuals.
