What does this operation involve?

A mini-abdominoplasty removes a limited amount of lower-abdominal skin through a low transverse scar. The umbilicus is usually left in its existing position. It is a smaller operation than a standard abdominoplasty, but it is suitable only when the concern is genuinely limited to the lower abdomen.

01

When it may be considered

  • Mild to moderate loose skin below the umbilicus
  • A stable weight and realistic expectations of a limited procedure
  • Little or no significant skin excess in the upper abdomen
02

Your operation

  • A low transverse incision planned around underwear or swimwear
  • Removal and redraping of selected lower-abdominal tissue
  • Limited muscle repair or liposuction may be incorporated when appropriate
03

Recovery and aftercare

  • Early gentle walking is encouraged after surgery
  • Temporary swelling, tightness and altered sensation are expected
  • Return to driving, work and exercise is staged according to healing and comfort

Designed around your anatomy.

The distribution of skin and tissue excess, abdominal-wall strength, previous scars, weight change, general health and the outcome you hope to achieve are assessed together.

You will receive a clear explanation of the proposed scar, whether muscle repair or liposuction may be appropriate, material risks, alternatives and the expected recovery before deciding how to proceed.

Useful information

01Is a mini-abdominoplasty simply a smaller scar?+

No. It treats a more limited anatomical area. Choosing it solely to obtain a shorter scar can leave untreated laxity when a fuller procedure would be more appropriate.

02Will my umbilicus be moved?+

The umbilicus is usually not brought through a new opening, although internal adjustment may occasionally be discussed depending on the plan.

03Can liposuction be combined with it?+

Yes, in selected patients. Any liposuction is planned around tissue quality, circulation and the overall contouring objective.
